About CWC Hollywood

Our Flagship location in the heart of Hollywood

CWC Hollywood has been serving students from across Los Angeles since opening its doors in 2010. Our mission has been to provide a rigorous, joyful, and holistic education through project-based learning in a diverse-by-design community.

We are especially strong in developing students’ social-emotional skills across lines of difference, preparing them to become thoughtful, confident leaders. Our students go on to thrive at CWC middle schools {link to CWC Silver Lake MS page) and successfully transition to top high schools across our community.

2010

Doors Open

CWC Hollywood opened its doors to founding students and families! This is our flagship school blazing a path for our other CWC locations.

2015

First Graduates

Our first fifth-grade class graduates and heads to middle school. This group of students outperformed schools on state assessments across LAUSD and California, proving our unique learning model works.

2022

College Bound

Our founding Kindergarten class heads to some of the top colleges and universities across the nation.

CWC Hollywood was recognized as one of California’s top-performing schools and added to the 2025 Honor Roll list

Meet Our Principal!

Kim Clerx

Read my bio

Kim brings over 20 years of educational experience of which she has spent the last 10 years as principal in charter schools.  Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to enhancing students’ educational journeys, fostering leadership skills, and advocating for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. She believes that every child is capable of constructing their own knowledge when provided with the right support.

Kim is a proud Bruin, earning  her B.A. in Sociology, M.A. in  Education and a second MA in Educational Leadership all from UCLA.  Her experience spans across elementary and middle school levels.

Outside of school, you can find Kim spending much of her time with her family, enjoying nature and exploring the wonders that LA has to offer. Kim is an avid women’s basketball fan and can often be found taking in a Sparks game.
