Director of Student Programs
Jaron Williams, known to many as “Coach Williams” is a University of Idaho graduate with Bachelor’s degrees in Advertising (Journalism & Mass Media) and Communication Studies (Psychology/Communication Studies). Coach Williams has 13+ years of experience working with nonprofits to hire, develop and transform individuals and teams. He models and leads from a growth mindset and thrives when he supports others to achieve their goals. After graduating college, Coach Williams returned to his hometown of Altadena, CA, and immediately started to work towards his goals. He began his career at Playworks and oversaw eight sites and their staff. The coach worked on developing best practices around Social and Emotional Learning and school climate through play. He also served in leadership roles that developed and facilitated programming to support healthy life choices, career exploration, peer-to-peer leadership, and social-emotional development. Jaron has been at CWC SL for eight years and has continually shown that he is dedicated and committed to encouraging positive change that strengthens communities. “I don’t see myself as a director I see myself as a team leader. The power of my leadership is definitely in the professional relationships I create with the individuals on the team. I seek to understand each individual’s “WHY”. The “WHY” helps them commit to the work we do and dive deeper into the role, and it helps me lead with understanding and allows me to transform a job into a purpose. Over the last nine years, I learned that when it comes to management, leading with authenticity, passion, and joy, infused with a lot of facilitation, helps transform school communities and build teams that can accomplish their goals.”
The impacts that Coach Williams has made in the CWC community have been determined, by the individuals he has collaborated with, hired, developed, and coached. As the Director of Student Programs, he strives to establish long-lasting regional partnerships to provide expanded learning opportunities for youth and families across the CWC LA network of schools.
