Spring 2021 Reopening

SPRING 2021 REOPENING

CWC Los Angeles schools are excited to be welcoming students safely back on campus in-person learning, as well as continuing to support students who have opted for distance learning for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Thank you to all of our families and staff for their continued partnership and collaboration as we move through this next phase together and stronger.

We hope this page serves as a comprehensive source of information for CWC LA’s Spring 2021 reopening and additional resources to support students and families.

CWC LA’s COVID-19 Safety Plan (CSP): As a part of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Reopening Framework and Public Health Guidance, please find CWC LA’s COVID-19 Safety Plan here. Our COVID-19 Safety Plan includes both a Cal/OSHA COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP) and COVID-19 School Guidance Checklists for our schools.

LA County Appendix T1: LA County provides guidance for school reopening and requires all schools that reopen to complete and post checklists to ensure safety guidance is being followed. You can find the CWC Los Angeles Appendix T1 checklist here.

IS CWC LA DISTRIBUTING MEALS?

CWC LA Will Continue to Provide Free Meals to All Households

CWC LA has partnered with the USDA to offer free meals during these challenging times. Through USDA waivers valid through 6/1/21, the government will fully reimburse meals that approved schools provide to the community, allowing all families to receive meals completely free of charge.

Who is eligible to receive free meals?
All children ages 0-18 may receive free meals, regardless of household income. This includes households that submitted lunch applications and received a Reduced or Paid designation, whose children are still eligible for free meals.

What will meal distribution look like as we reopen?
CWC LA has been operating Grab & Go meal distribution centers at two of our campuses since last March.  Upon reopening on April 20, CWC LA will offer a free, ready-to-eat meal to each student each day they attend school on-site.

In addition, CWC will distribute packs with 5 frozen meals to ALL students who are interested on Wednesdays from 2 – 5 pm (previously Mondays). Any student, whether they are participating in hybrid learning or are remaining fully virtual, are all eligible to receive frozen meal packs during this Wednesday afternoon block. Learn more about our meal service during COVID-19 here.

Can students bring their own lunch?
Of course!  If students choose to bring their own lunch from home during any in-person learning days, that’s great.

What about snacks?
As always, we ask that all students participating in in-person learning come to school with a snack they will be able to enjoy mid-AM.  For reminders on any CWC LA policies around snack and lunch, please refer to our 20-21 Family Handbook.  Snack is not currently provided as part of our free meal program.
