Annual Fundraising Campaigns
Our schools reach out to our community members to raise funds throughout the year to support our operating budget. Instead of making multiple small requests for funds throughout the school year, we intentionally hold three larger giving opportunities. These Fundraising campaigns are designed to give CWC families, extended friends and family, and our greater community the opportunity to invest in our students’ educational experience. These events ask for support in different ways and provide fun, equitable opportunities for everyone to participate. 100% of funding raised through these campaigns stays at the schools to support students’ education.
Fall: Annual Family Give
The Annual Family Give is our biggest fundraiser of the year. AFG is primarily geared towards our internal families to make one-time or recurring monthly donations throughout the school year. We additionally welcome donations from external family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends, etc.) and employer matching gifts.
Winter: Thons
Our Thon events are fun student-centered fundraisers in which all of our students walk, run, or move in their own way with the support of the entire community. This is a peer-to-peer fundraiser where each student has their own fundraising page and can invite friends and family to donate to their individual fundraising page to support their CWC school. The campaign culminates in a lively in-school event where students move their bodies outside to music and cheering from family and staff – it’s a great community event!
Spring: Celebrations
Each spring, our schools host signature celebrations that reflect the unique identity, traditions, and spirit of their communities. These joyful events bring together students, families, educators, community partners, and supporters to celebrate the creativity, diversity, and sense of belonging that make each CWC LA school unique. Many of these events are centered around themes or values that inspire our school communities—from Pride celebrations, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to Black Excellence showcases, Science Fairs, Kids Rock musical performances, and World Fairs.

Why Fundraising Matters
Like all public schools, Citizens of the World Los Angeles receives public funding based on student enrollment and attendance. While these funds cover the core costs of operating our schools, they do not fully fund the exceptional educational experience and comprehensive student and family support we believe our communities deserve.
We rely on philanthropic partnerships and Community Fundraising to bridge that gap and fund the programs that make CWC LA stand out.
