Head of Schools
Dr. Ramona Patrick was born and raised in Kansas and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University in Texas, where she created her own major focusing on Asian studies with minors in history, political science, corporate communications, and Chinese. While studying abroad in Taiwan and preparing for admission into law school, she discovered Teach For America and never looked back.
Ramona’s 20 years of experience in education has been vast and varied. She was an elementary school teacher in Lynwood, CA, a program director for Teach For America’s Los Angeles region, and both a literacy and mathematics coach working with teachers in kindergarten through 10th grade. For seven years, Ramona was also a lecturer at Loyola Marymount University, instructing graduate students in elementary teaching methods.
Ramona received her MA in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University and completed her Doctor of Education at the University of Southern California in 2011, where her dissertation focused on the allocation of educational resources to improve student achievement at four high performing charter schools in California.
She is passionate about our mission and believes strongly that every child must have the opportunity to develop critical and creative thinking skills. While away from school, Ramona likes to spend time with her two children, and is an enthusiastic indoor cyclist.
