Why Support CWC
Voices of CWC
We reflect the city we serve
Our students reflect the abundant diversity of Los Angeles and our unique learning model prepares them to emerge as a new generation of leaders – as trailblazers who are ready to tackle the future challenges of our world with broad-based skills that allow them to work across lines of difference.
CWC LA operates seven diverse, academically rigorous public charter schools in Hollywood, West LA and the San Fernando Valley, all founded collaboratively by parents, educators and community members.
We have a strategic growth plan
We opened our doors in 2010 to just under 100 students and we now serve over 3,000 students and are in the early years of an ambitious growth plan to approximately double the number of students we serve.
We are one of the only charter school organizations that is growing in Los Angeles, which has more charter schools than any other city in the country.
We are at an exciting inflection point
We are at a particularly exciting and critical inflection point in our organization’s development. Now that we are more mature as an organization, have a clear strategic plan for this next chapter, and are reaching critical scale, we are seeking philanthropic partners to help us reach our vision. An injection of capital at this moment would be catalyzing and transformational for our impact and sustainability. Our unique model, steadfast results, desire to ambitiously expand our impact to double the number of students we serve, and history of consistent, broad-based philanthropic support make us a strong case for investment.
2023 Annual Report
We are full of gratitude for our students, caregivers, teachers, staff, community partners and sponsors. Thanks to your support, 2023 was marked by significant progress toward our strategic initiatives and growth across the region.
Recognition and Broad-Based Philanthropic Support
We are proud of the recognition and support that our work has garnered from some of the leading funders, investors and civic leaders from across the country. Our funders have understood the importance and value of our model in the portfolio of options available for students and families. They have also recognized the impact our model is having on students and have been excited to invest in our improvement and growth so that we can serve more students, especially those who are most vulnerable.

CWC Gala
Our Celebration!
On May 4th, 2023 we held our 10-year Anniversary Gala at the historic Paramount Studios, hosted by Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard,
It was a wonderful evening to reflect on our growth as an organization, expanding from one school in Hollywood with only 93 students to 7 locations serving over 3,000 students across Los Angeles. It was a special opportunity to celebrate our founders, Mark Gordon and Kriste Dragon, for their vision and continued stewardship over the past 10+ years. We were also proud to showcase some of our students’ work and to hear from our teachers, staff, and parents, who shared why CWC is important to them.
Finally, this event was an occasion to express our sincerest appreciation to our supporters whose generous investment of time, energy, and resources have made a tremendous impact and will enable us to continue to provide communities across Los Angeles with a high-achieving, diverse-by-design public school option.
